i was driving through the highlands at a quarter to 5 in the morning in the middle of june

i was listening to a record that i used rely on to get by and thinking about you

stop the car at intersections, check my heart

spin the wheel in your direction

 

cause somewhere out in the dark

you're burning and all i need to do is to follow the heat

if i never come up for air i won't ever need to breathe

curdled milkteeth

 

now i don't know this road from any other

i'm hungry and tired and i'm a hundred exits deep

and the valley walls are so high

that i must have missed the sunrise

if there ever was a sunrise

 

I don't know when it happened, but sometime in the past I got too tall to sneak through the rye

I suddenly recall how i used to rely on you to catch me before I hit the overhang

Kill the engine, try to soothe my racing heart
